979-1 Unit Chair Report
It looks like the economy
is turning around. With the
Cash for Clunkers that the
government is giving to people
buying new cars, the auto industry
is starting to come out of this
recession. This is good for the
steel industry and other vendors
that supply parts for autos.
As all of you know by
now, ArcelorMittal is recalling
some of the workers. By the time
that they are up and running, the
mill should have about 700 – 900
employees. It will take a few
weeks to accomplish this.
This is great news for
us at Enprotech Steel Services
because most of our work comes
from the mills. Our company has
recalled two caster assemblers and
two welders this past month. The
company will call back additional
employees as the orders pick up.
Don’t be discouraged;
hang in there a little while longer
because the future is starting to
look good for our company. We
have work from California Steel,
La Porte Inland, ArcelorMittal,
and North Star in our plant.
Some of us went back to
a 40 hour work week due to the
work load, and I am hopeful that
the rest of us will be on the same
schedule in the coming months.
It makes me very happy
to see people called back to work,
and I want to take this opportunity
to welcome you back.
I hope everyone had a safe
and healthy summer with their
loved ones.
As always, I leave you
with these words: United We
Stand and Divided We Fall.
