Dear Sisters and Brothers,

I've put together a list of the most common questions and answers concerning your rights under the Basic Labor Agreement.

  1. How long do I have recall rights?

Recall rights equal the amount of service time you have with the company with a maximum of 5 years.

  1. Will I be called back to my original job and department?

You will be recalled back to your original job and department unless you only have enough seniority to hold a utility position within the plant. When your department needs additional people, you will be recalled there based on seniority.

  1. Can someone from another department take my job?

No. The contract is specific in regards to departmental seniority.

  1. Do I receive Supplemental Unemployment Benefits and Health Benefits?

Everyone with 2 or more years continuous service is eligible for S.U.B. benefits. Everyone who has completed probation is eligible for some duration of insurance benefits.

  1. Am I eligible for Interplant Job Opportunities?

Yes, depending on your continuous service and the duration of the layoff. Please contact me personally for information on this provision  of the contract.

  1. Do I receive credit towards my pension and next years vacation while I am laid off?

You will receive a contribution of 40 hours per week into your pension account for up to 2 years of layoff. No vacation credit is given for layoff hours.

If you have any further questions, please contact your Zone Committeeman or stop by the Union Hall. You can call the Union Hall at 216-441-3040 or call me directly at 216-441-2714. We will be happy to answer all your questions.
In Solidarity,
